Terms of Use

Effective 28 September 2026. Document version 2026-09-28. This is the same text shown inside the app.

Not financial advice. Alumbus projects figures you entered. It does not know your circumstances, is not regulated and gives no recommendation. Verify anything that matters against your bank or lender, and take professional advice before acting on it.

1.Agreement

1.1These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and Alumbus Labs™ (“we”, “us”), governing your use of the Alumbus™ application and everything within it.

1.2The App is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), which you agreed to when you obtained the App from the App Store and which is published at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These Terms add to the Standard EULA: they set out the subscriptions and purchases, what the App is and is not, and the rest of what follows. Where the two conflict, the Standard EULA prevails.

1.3By downloading, installing or using the App you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them you must not use the App, and should remove it from your device.

1.4These Terms are between you and us alone. Apple Inc. is not a party to them. Clause 15 explains how the Standard EULA applies.

2.Licence

2.1Your licence to use the App is the one granted by the Standard EULA: a non-transferable licence to use the App on any Apple-branded product that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Its restrictions, disclaimers and limitations apply to your use of the App.

2.2This is a licence to use the App. No ownership of the App or of any part of it passes to you.

2.3Using the App beyond its free trial requires an active subscription or a lifetime purchase, as clause 12 describes.

3.What you must not do

3.1In addition to the restrictions in the Standard EULA:

3.2You must not copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, rent, lease, sub-license, lend or otherwise transfer the App or any part of it.

3.3You must not modify, adapt, translate, port or create derivative works from the App, nor merge it with any other software.

3.4You must not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, structure, algorithms, calculations, data model or design of the App, except and only to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.

3.5You must not remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trade mark or other proprietary notice contained in the App.

3.6You must not reproduce, imitate or make substantial use of the App's design, layout, interface, wording, iconography, calculation methods or the selection, structure and presentation of its features in any competing or derivative product.

3.7You must not use the App in any unlawful manner, or in any way that interferes with its operation or with any service it relies upon.

4.Copyright and intellectual property

4.1© 2026 Alumbus Labs. All rights reserved. The App, and all intellectual property rights in and to it, are and remain the exclusive property of Alumbus Labs and its licensors. This includes without limitation the source and object code, the forecasting and repayment calculation logic, the data model, the user interface and its arrangement, the visual design, the icons and artwork, and the written text throughout the App.

4.2Copyright in the App subsists automatically under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 in the United Kingdom, under the copyright law of each member state of the European Union, under Title 17 of the United States Code, and under the Berne Convention in every country party to it. No registration or further formality is required for those rights to exist or to be enforced.

4.3All such rights are reserved. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of them to you, and no right is granted by implication, estoppel or otherwise beyond the licence expressly set out in clause 2.

4.4Copying, reproducing or adapting any part of the App, its interface or its wording without our prior written consent infringes those rights and may give rise to civil liability and, in some jurisdictions, criminal liability.

4.5Third-party components incorporated in the App remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their own licences. Trade marks of third parties referred to in the App are the property of those third parties, and their appearance implies no association or endorsement.

4.6The financial information you enter belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it, acquire no rights in it, and have no access to it.

5.Trade marks

5.1Alumbus™ and Alumbus Labs™, together with the Alumbus logo, the Alumbus mark and the get-up of the App, are trade marks of Alumbus Labs. The ™ symbol denotes a mark claimed at common law; it does not assert registration.

5.2Rights in an unregistered mark arise from use and reputation, and are protected in the United Kingdom by the law of passing off, in the European Union by the national unfair-competition and unregistered-mark laws of each member state, and in the United States under section 43(a) of the Lanham Act. Those rights are asserted and reserved.

5.3You are granted no right to use these marks. You must not use them, or anything confusingly similar to them, as or within the name of any product, service, application, domain, account or business, nor in any way that suggests association with, endorsement by, or origin from us.

5.4Nothing here prevents fair or nominative use of the name to refer to the App truthfully — in a review, a comparison or a piece of writing about it.

6.The App is not financial advice

6.1Alumbus is an arithmetic tool. It projects forward from figures you supply and shows the result. It does not know your circumstances and does not evaluate them.

6.2Nothing in the App constitutes financial, investment, tax, accounting, credit or legal advice, a personal recommendation, or an invitation or inducement to enter into any transaction. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority or by any other financial services regulator in any jurisdiction, no part of the App is a regulated activity or a regulated financial service, and nothing in it is a financial promotion.

6.3This applies in particular to the repayment calculator, to interest and annual percentage rate figures, to forecasts, warnings, projected balances, and to any indication that a balance may fall below a threshold or exceed a limit.

6.4You should obtain advice from a suitably qualified and, where applicable, appropriately authorised professional before making any financial decision. Any decision you take remains yours alone.

7.Accuracy, and the limits of a forecast

7.1A forecast is a projection, not a prediction and not a statement of fact. Its accuracy depends entirely on the accuracy, completeness and currency of what you enter, and on assumptions — such as an unchanged pattern of income and expenditure — which reality is under no obligation to honour.

7.2Interest calculations use conventional methods and the rates you supply. A lender applies its own method, its own day count, its own rounding, its own fees and its own charging dates, and its figures will differ. Nothing shown in the App reconciles to, replaces or overrides a statement, agreement or communication from your bank or lender.

7.3Exchange rates are published reference rates. They are not dealing rates; the rate you actually receive will differ, and rates may be delayed or unavailable.

7.4You are responsible for verifying any figure before relying on it.

8.Your device, your data

8.1You are responsible for the device on which the App runs, for its security, and for keeping backups.

8.2The App stores your information on your device only. Loss, damage, theft, failure, replacement or reset of the device, deletion of the App, or erasure carried out within the App will destroy that information permanently. We hold no copy and cannot recover it.

8.3Where you nominate an external or cloud folder for backups, you are responsible for choosing that destination and for its security and availability. A backup may fail for reasons beyond the App's control, including a folder being moved or deleted, permission being withdrawn, a provider being unavailable, or the absence of a network connection. The App will tell you when this happens, but cannot guarantee that any backup exists or is complete.

9.No warranty

9.1The App is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, conditions and representations of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

9.2We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, free of defects, compatible with any particular device or operating system version, or that any defect will be corrected.

9.3Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so parts of this clause may not apply to you. Where you deal as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected and apply in addition to these Terms.

10.Limitation of liability

10.1To the fullest extent permitted by law we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive loss, nor for any loss of profit, revenue, savings, opportunity, goodwill or data, nor for any financial loss, charge, fee, interest, overdraft cost, declined payment, missed payment or credit consequence, however arising, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, and whether or not foreseeable.

10.2To the fullest extent permitted by law our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the App and these Terms is limited as the Standard EULA sets out.

10.3Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so parts of this clause may not apply to you.

11.If you are a consumer

11.1Nothing in these Terms affects rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, EU consumer protection law, or the consumer protection law of your state or country of residence, where those rights cannot be excluded by agreement.

11.2The App is supplied to you through the Apple App Store. Purchases, pricing, refunds and any statutory right to cancel are matters between you and Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, and requests about them should be made to Apple.

11.3Where the App is supplied as digital content and you have a right to cancel, that right may be lost once supply has begun with your consent, in accordance with the applicable consumer regulations.

12.Subscriptions, free trial and purchases

12.1The App may be used free of charge for an introductory trial period. After that, continued use requires either an auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly or yearly, or a one-off lifetime purchase. The price, the length of the trial and what each option includes are shown in the App, in your local currency, before you confirm, and on the App's App Store listing.

12.2The free trial is available once per Apple Account, across all subscription options, and only where Apple shows it as available. When the trial ends, the subscription you chose begins and is charged to your Apple Account, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

12.3A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in force, and is charged to your Apple Account within the 24 hours before the period ends, unless automatic renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before then. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your device's Settings, under your name and then Subscriptions, or from Settings within the App. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the period already paid for. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.

12.4If the price of a subscription changes, Apple will tell you in advance and, where the law or Apple's rules require it, ask for your agreement before charging the new price.

12.5A lifetime purchase is a single payment. It gives you access to the App on devices signed in to your Apple Account for as long as we continue to make the App available, and nothing renews.

12.6Purchases and subscriptions are processed and billed by Apple, not by us, and refunds are decided by Apple under its own policies. You can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, or from the receipt Apple emails you. If a purchase is refunded, the access it gave ends.

12.7Offer codes and other promotional offers are made available and redeemed through Apple, are subject to any conditions stated when they are offered, and have no cash value.

12.8Without an active subscription or a lifetime purchase the App does not open beyond its plans screen. The information you entered remains on your device, and a copy of it can still be saved from that screen.

13.Suspension and termination

13.1This licence continues until terminated. It terminates automatically and immediately if you breach any of these Terms, and you may terminate it at any time by deleting the App from your devices. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription, which must be cancelled with Apple as clause 12 describes.

13.2On termination you must cease all use of the App and delete every copy of it. Clauses 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 15 and 16 survive termination.

14.Changes

14.1We may modify the App and may update these Terms from time to time, including to reflect changes to the App or to the law. The effective date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect, and the current version is always available here within the App.

14.2Where a change is material you will be asked to read and accept the updated Terms before continuing to use the App. Continued use after an updated version takes effect constitutes acceptance of it. If you do not accept the updated Terms you must stop using the App and delete it.

15.Apple’s Standard EULA

15.1The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and licensed under the Standard EULA, published at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. It already contains the terms Apple requires of every App Store app, including that Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App, and that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries entitled to enforce it.

15.2These Terms add to the Standard EULA and do not replace it. Where the two conflict, the Standard EULA prevails.

15.3The publisher, not Apple, is responsible for the App and its content, and for addressing any claim relating to it, as the Standard EULA provides.

16.General

16.1These Terms, together with the Standard EULA and the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the App and supersede any prior understanding relating to it.

16.2If any provision is held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be severed or limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.

16.3A failure or delay in enforcing any provision is not a waiver of it, and no waiver of any breach is a waiver of any other.

16.4You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign ours in connection with a transfer of the App.

16.5No person other than you and us has any right to enforce any provision of these Terms. Apple’s rights as a third-party beneficiary arise under the Standard EULA.

16.6The Standard EULA is governed by the law it names. These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in Scotland, Northern Ireland, the European Economic Area, or a state of the United States, you retain the benefit of any mandatory protection of the law of your place of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts there.
